VitrA at Milan Design Week 2026

Celebrating 20 years of participation in Milan, VitrA returns to the Interni Exhibition “Materiae,” where the global design community gathers for Salone del Mobile and the many events of Fuorisalone during Milan Design Week 2026. The installation, "Ceramics Forged in the Light," explores the elemental nature of ceramic through water, light, scent, and sound, while highlighting VitrA's approach to circular design and sustainable innovation through recycled washbasins and new recycled tiles.

Ceramics Forged in Light

For VitrA, ceramic is a beginning. Clay shaped by heat becomes durable, hygienic, and water‑resistant — the elemental foundation of their sanitaryware and tiles.

Snøhetta’s installation draws from these same primal forces — water, light, scent, and sound — echoing Interni’s 2026 theme, Materiae. The space embodies VitrA’s spirit of innovation and experimentation, reflecting the advances that allow ceramic to be recycled within the production process. It traces a quiet arc from earth to rebirth.

The installation gives form to VitrA’s commitment to responsible production, honoring natural resources and advancing circular design. Their circular design story, which begins with recycled washbasin continues with the new recycled tiles. In the installation, material stewardship becomes a source of creativity rather than constraint, opening new pathways for innovation. Through this lens, the work gestures toward a future where imagination and sustainability move together, shaping a more thoughtful world.
